Readathin 2024 Reading Guide Announcement

Hey everyone! Bet you didn’t expect to be seeing this post đź‘€

My absolutely lovely best friend and co-host of Readathin (MomsBookCollection) and I have talked multiple times of how to kind of expand on Readathin and we came up with a yearly reading guide! I can’t wait to get into talking about this, so let’s just get right into this so I can!

Just Book It Book Club Announcement!

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Make sure to take today to plan for this upcoming week, finalize what Christmas stuff you have left to do, drink your water, get enough sleep, and take care of yourself.

So in light of this, I’m going with a really easy post today. Today, I’m sharing what book I chose for the first round back with the Just Book It Book Club and some news and updates with it.

First, I decided to make the book club bi-monthly. So the first round will be January and February. You have those full two months to read the book.

You can discuss it in the Facebook group, just mention where you are before you say spoilers. Then we will do a full discussion at the beginning of March (very early on if not the end of February) where we will do a discussion of the book and decide on March and April’s book.

This full discussion will be done on the Just Book It Book Club discord. I’m still trying to figure it all out, but join the discord by clicking here or the photo below.

We will decide on a date from there. Join the discord, introduce yourself and let me know what you’re currently reading and any 2020 reading or life goals you have. My blog post for that was supposed to go up today but I wanted this to be up first.

So, the moment you’ve all been waiting for! The book!

Tricia Levenseller is releasing a new book in February and I’m so freaking excited about this. This book is a stand-alone inspired by Vikings.

Rasmira has trained her entire life to lead her village and become the warrior her father has taught her to be. But when the trial finally comes up, she ends up being sabotaged and fails. This leads to her being banished from her village. To prove she’s worthy, she decides to kill the god who has been tormenting her village and the surrounding ones for years.

I’m really excited about this book. Provided below are the links to purchase this book from Amazon and Book Depository. The link for Amazon, as always, is my affiliate link. Use that and I’ll get a small percentage of your purchase to help get more books and other things to improve my blog and Instagram. Currently I’m working on saving up to get some more props for photos. Recommend some of your favorite little trinkets to see in photos.

Thank you so much everyone for your continued support and I hope that you all join in! If you’ve already read this, feel free to join into the chats about it! Just remember to remain spoiler free until the final discussion!

I appreciate you all so much and I look forward to chatting with you all on discord! It’s an interesting thing and I’m excited to start using it!

Plan your week! Sit down right now and plan out your week. Whether you just make a to do list or go all out with stickers and drawings in a bullet journal. Sit down right now and plan it out. Make a list of everything you need to do this week and plan it out throughout the week. Spread things out so you aren’t stressing out. That’s what I’m going to do right now along with you!

SelfLoveathon Announcement | Round 1

Good morning everyone! I hope you slept well (or worked well if you’re like me) and are as excited about this post as I am!

I’m here today to tell you about…

What is SelfLoveathon?

So, I was thinking (way back in November) about how I wanted to read more books that contain characters like me. So I kept thinking on this and an idea sprouted.

How often do we think about how we can’t find books that pertain to who we are, how we identify, or struggles we are going through?

More often than we should most of the time.

That being said, I decided that since January is the start of the new year and the start of people trying to become better versions of themselves, how about we do a readathton that is based on loving yourself the way you are.

Find books that contain characters that have the same identities, struggles, or are like you in any way. You have anxiety? Find a book with a character who has anxiety. You are asexual, find books that have asexual characters.

Find these characters that you can identify with and read about them.

PROMOTE THESE BOOKS! After you read them, review them and talk about them. Review on Amazon, your Blog or YouTube channel, Barnes and Noble, Book Depository, Facebook, Twitter, freaking take out an ad in the newspaper if you have to. Just review the dang books. Mention what about them you connected with so other readers who may be looking for these books can find them!

Okay, we know what it is, so when is it?

SelfLoveathon will be held from January 20th to January 26th. It will start at midnight on January 20th and end at 11:59pm on January 26th. That’s only a week and I know that we can all do it.

Are there any challenges?

The only reading challenge is to read the books and share them. That’s it.

You specified reading challenges. Are there any other challenges?

Yup! I decided that since we are not doing reading challenges, that we shall do a photo challenge! The photo is down below. Make sure to screenshot it! If you can’t figure out how to screenshot it and crop it, DM me on Instagram (link here) and I’ll send it to you directly.

How will we stay connected?

Use the hashtag #SelfLoveathon on Instagram, Twitter, and anywhere else. Feel free to tag me in anything you are posting about it or send it to me directly. Sometimes I get really busy and I don’t have the chance to keep up with everything. I won’t really be running sprints, but if I do they will be on my Instagram in my stories.

I think that’s really all I have to share about it currently. Make sure you all are joining in and reading the books with characters just like you! Find the books with character you can connect with and maybe even learn more about yourself with.

I will try to make a Google Doc with some GoodReads lists or recommendation lists of different things that people may be looking for. So let me know what different character aspects you’ll be looking for! I know I’ll be hunting down as many pansexual characters as I possibly can. And even some dealing with infertility maybe.

Just remember, you are beautiful and such a wonderful human being, even if you can’t see it and other people are trying to tell you different. You deserve love, but to get there you must first love yourself.

Take this year to focus on loving yourself. Be the best you that you can possibly be and love that person whether you’re 100% all of the time or not. Love. Yourself.

Thanks so much for joining me. Make sure to follow me in Instagram, share this post on your social media, and join into the fun! I’ll see you all in the next one!

NewYearsathon Announcement

Good morning everyone. I’m back!! And with an announcement.

Today I’m going to be announcing the second round of NewYearsathon!

NewYearsathon is a readathon that I cohost at the beginning of the year with Donna from @momsbookcollection

We did it last year and had a lot of fun kicking off the year right! I do hope that you all can join us this year!

January 1st (12:00am) to January 7th (11:59pm)

Those are the reading challenges for the readathon. Obviously when it says last year we mean 2019.

For make a bookish resolution, you choose one thing you’d like to accomplish by the end of the year and read a book that works toward that. It can be as simple as reading a certain number of books in 2020, finishing a series (so reading a book in that series), doing a challenge like Romanceopoly, or whatever you can think of.

If you need some ideas, I will be posting my 2020 reading goals soon. I’m not sure exactly when but it’ll be up soon so make sure you’re subscribed to my blog to be notified when that goes up.

And here are the photo challenges!

We are mainly on Instagram and you can follow the NewYearsathon Instagram here.

I do hope that you all get the chance to join us and kick off the year with a bang! Let me know in the comments if you plan on joining and/or any reading goals you have been thinking about for next year.

Thanks so much for joining me. I’ll see you all in my next post. Have a lovely day, drink some water, and take your medicine ❤️
